Frequently asked questions
What kind of vehicle do I need to join an expedition?
All guided adventures require a street-legal and road worthy four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle with off-road capability. Some trips may require additional equipment like lifts and larger tires, skid plates, winch, or recovery points. You will receive a vehicle and gear checklist after booking your trip.
What happens if I can’t make it to the starting point on time?
Unless it is a private booking, trips start on schedule. If you’re running late, let us know as soon as possible. Depending on the route, we may be able to arrange a meetup point along the way, but we can’t always guarantee late entries.
What happens if my vehicle breaks down before or during the trip?
If your vehicle has mechanical issues before the trip, contact us immediately. You or your group may reschedule for a future expedition at no additional cost.
We’ll assess the situation on a case-by-case basis. We will assist with recovery to the best of our ability, but ultimately participants are responsible for their own vehicle recovery and repair costs. Depending on the circumstances, we may offer a full or partial refund or a complimentary rescheduled trip.
We get it—adventure doesn’t always go as planned. As experienced travelers and off-roaders ourselves, we know that delays, breakdowns, and unexpected challenges are just part of the journey. When things don’t go according to plan, we’ll work with you to find a fair and professional solution, whether that means rescheduling, offering a refund, or adjusting the trip as needed. Our goal is to ensure that every expedition is a positive experience, even when the unexpected happens.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Overland adventures run in most weather conditions, but safety is always the priority. If severe weather (such as extreme storms or flooding) makes the trip unsafe, we will reschedule to a future date at no cost to you.
Do you provide camping gear or food?
No, OVR Adventures are considered “self-reliant” and participants are responsible for their own camping gear, food, and supplies, unless otherwise stated in the expedition details. We’ll provide a recommended gear list to help you prepare.
However, we’re working on offering catered basecamp-style adventures in the future, where we’ll set up a fully-equipped camp with meals provided, allowing you to focus on the experience. Stay tuned for more details!
Are beginners welcome?
Absolutely! We offer trips for all experience levels, but we focus heavily on beginner/novice adventurers. If you're new to off-roading, we recommend joining a confidence-inspiring expedition where we’ll guide you through the basics of off-road driving in a supportive environment.
Can I bring additional passengers?
Yes! Passengers are always welcome, including kids. Additional fees may apply.
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
A deposit is required to hold your spot on these limited-space adventures. If you need to cancel:
At least 14 days in advance – You’re eligible for a full refund.
Less than 14 days before the trip – Deposits are non-refundable, however you can reschedule for a future expedition.
